Goldilocks and the Wild Bears Demo: Porridge Bowls and a Bear Meter
Goldilocks and the Wild Bears · Quickspin · RTP 96.84% · max win 818.72x · checked on the demo server
Goldilocks and the Wild Bears first came out in 2014, and the version here is Quickspin's HTML5 rebuild of July 2017, a fairy tale on 5x3 with 25 bet lines. The studio's server streams it below, free in the browser, where it takes neither a download nor a registration. Porridge bowls are Multiplier Wilds worth x2 to x4, and 3 Goldilocks scatters start 10 free spins in which her Progress Scatters turn three bears Wild one at a time. Volatility is 3.56 of 5, RTP 96.84%, and a billion simulated spins topped out at 818.72x.
Which bear goes Wild first in the Goldilocks free spins, and when?
The big bear in blue dungarees, once 3 Goldilocks Progress Scatters have landed. The meter right of the reels then needs 5 more for the bear in the cap and 5 more for the cub, 13 in all, and each of those two adds 2 spins to the 10. A bear stays Wild to the end of the round. The patched teddy is not one of the three. Our four rounds woke three, two, one and two bears.

13 Progress Scatters between 10 free spins and 14
Two Goldilocks symbols do the work. In the base game it is the girl with a spoon on a red card: 3 on one spin pay 3x the bet and start 10 free spins. Inside the round her face on a blue square is the Progress Scatter, and each one drops into the wooden meter right of the reels.

The rules print no counts; the meter shows them. Its three boards, bottom to top, belong to the big bear with 3 holes and no extra spins, then the cap bear and the cub with 5 holes and a +2 SPINS tag each. The server matched it in every round, sending its "transform" stages after the 3rd, 8th and 13th Progress Scatter.

A bear already plays as Wild on the spin that fills its board: on free spin 3 of our spin 48 round, the big bear on reel 1 completed a winning line as it woke. Three Progress Scatters on one free spin also pay the 3x prize, three times in our log. After the cub turns, the server switches to a reel set named FreeSpinsGridNoSC, with no scatters left to land.

Porridge multiplies, the cottage only stands in
The cottage is the Regular Wild. It substitutes for everything except the bowls and both scatters, and five pay €40.00 at €1.00, the top line of the paytable, against €10.00 for five big bears and €8.00 for the other bears and the teddy. The red bowl of porridge is the Multiplier Wild: it substitutes too, and each one on a spin lifts that spin's total win, scatter prize aside, to x2, x3 or x4.

A bowl showed on 132 of our 500 base spins, always on reels 2 to 4: 120 with one, 11 with two, and spin 226 with all three, which paid €3.52 at x4. Those spins earned €205.00 of the €298.52 that base-game lines returned. The best base spin, number 431, made a five-of-a-kind big bear line from three bears, a bowl and a cottage: €10.00 that, with a €0.08 line beside it, doubled to 20.16x. Bowls work in the free spins as well: the last spin of our spin 245 round had two, with two bears Wild, and paid €57.84, the best free spin in the log.
Spin 48 woke all three bears, spin 337 only the first
Our stake came back at 108.8% over the 500 spins we played at €1.00 on 3 Nov 2026. 36.2% of the spins paid out, no win came for 8 spins at worst, and free spins arrived on spins 48, 245, 337 and 363.
- 500paid demo spins at €1.00
- 36.2%of them paid something
- 92.12xbest spin, free spins round included
- 4free spins bonuses triggered
The bears set each round's length and most of its pay. With all three awake, the spin 48 round ran 14 spins and paid 92.12x, and €55.88 of its €89.12 in free spin wins came in the last three. Spins 245 and 363 stopped at two bears and 12 spins, for 83.36x and 53.32x, while spin 337 woke only the big bear and ended after 10 spins with 16.84x.
The balance bottomed out at €4,969.40 on spin 244, one spin before the second bonus. Base-game lines returned 59.7% of the stake and the four rounds, trigger prizes included, 49.1%, far above the 31.92% the sheet books to free spins (base game 64.92%). In three of our four rounds the meter got as far as the second bear.
Honeylock's Pots tells the sequel, Polar Paws reruns the maths
Quickspin links a later game to this one by story alone. On its Honeylock's Pots page, Goldilocks has fled the forest and her older sister stays to win back the bears' trust. Neither page names the other game, and the play shares nothing: Honeylock's Pots (April 2026) runs on 5x4 with 30 lines, sells its bonus for 30x to 85x and caps wins at 2,500x.
The relative in rules is Polar Paws (December 2019), where sweets fill the bowls and elves wake polar bears. Its registry row repeats this one's figures: 96.84% split 64.92% and 31.92%, volatility 3.56, a 100x win once in 1,487 spins, 25 lines. Its paytable tops out at the same €40.00 line, and the elf meter takes 3, then 5 and 5 more. Polar Paws' sheet even repeats, word for word, the Quickspin line from this game's sheet that three Wild bears make the rest of the round "pure excitement", and of the figures both sheets print, only the 40x odds differ (1 in 290 here, 1 in 209 there). Neither Quickspin page calls one game a copy of the other, so we call Polar Paws a game built on this 2014 design.
Small base wins, and a meter that sets the size of the bonus
Small, frequent wins carry the base game, 0.8x at the median in our log, and the bowls lift some of them well above that. Most of the swing comes from the meter, as our round stuck on the first board (10 spins, 16.84x) and the one that reached the cub (14 spins, 92.12x) show. Quickspin has published a single RTP model, 96.84%, which is also the one on the demo server. With volatility 3.56 of 5 it suits steady sessions more than the hunt for one huge hit.
Six checks on porridge, curls and the 2014 original
Each reply points to the rules screens, Quickspin's page or our log.
What is the longest a round of free spins can run?
14 spins. The rules give 10 for 3 scatters and allow extra spins only through the Bears Turn Wild feature, and the meter tags the second and third bear with +2 SPINS each. Our rounds lasted 14, 12, 10 and 12 spins.
Is this the 2014 Goldilocks or a newer version?
The newer one. Quickspin's page says the game first launched in 2014 and was rebuilt in HTML5, adding portrait play and the Achievements Engine. The demo server's game ID is goldilocks2, the client reports version 1.4.0, and trade reports date the relaunch to July 2017.
Do Progress Scatters pay anything themselves?
Three on the same free spin pay 3x the total bet, and the Multiplier Wild rules leave scatter prizes out of the multiplied win. In our log the prize came on free spin 9 of the spin 48 round and on free spins 6 and 8 of the spin 363 round.
Does Goldilocks share anything with Honeylock's Pots beyond the story?
No mechanics or figures. Honeylock's Pots is 5x4 with 30 lines, a respin bonus with jackpots, buys and a 2,500x cap. This game is 5x3 with 25 lines, free spins and no buy; its 818.72x is the highest simulated win, not a cap.
How many spins apart were your four bonuses?
They came on spins 48, 245, 337 and 363, so 197, 92 and 26 spins apart, and the last 137 spins had none. Quickspin's sheet gives no free spins frequency, so four in 500 is one sample, not a rate.
What does a bowl do when no line wins?
Nothing: the multiplier works on the spin's total win, so it needs a win to multiply. Spin 134 of our log showed two bowls, the server set x3, and the spin paid zero. A bowl on a line helps twice, as Wild and as multiplier.
