Sevens High is a 2015 Quickspin fruit machine with stacked sevens, club music and 25 lines on a 5x3 grid. Quickspin's own build of it can be played below at no cost, and it asks for no registration, deposit or download. Any win starts a respin, every second win in a row turns one of the three sevens wild, and three Bonus Scatters open 10 free spins in which sevens turned wild stay wild until the round is over. Quickspin's game sheet prints an RTP of 96.54% and a volatility of 3.40 of 5; the demo server gives 96.55%, and its top figure, 811.32x the bet, is the largest win in 1 billion simulated spins (demo server; the game sheet prints 811x).

What turns the sevens wild in Sevens High, and how long do they stay wild?

Wins inside one respin chain. Any winning line starts a respin and moves the Wild Meter up a step: the 2nd win in a row turns the blue seven wild, the 4th the green one and the 6th the red one. In the base game the turned sevens last until a respin brings no new win. In the free spins every second winning spin turns the next seven, the wins need not come in a row, each turn adds 2 free spins, and the sevens stay wild to the last spin.

18+The demo runs on play money and pays nothing out. Real-money play is for adults only.

Our frames show a €2.50 stake, the client's own starting bet, and a play balance of €5,000.00; divide any euro figure on them by 2.5 to get the multiple of the bet. Stakes run from €0.25 to €100.00, and our logged session used €1.00. The paytable screens (version 3.0.2) show the payouts and the rules but print neither an RTP nor a maximum win. The game has no buy feature either, so three Bonus Scatters are the one route to free spins.

Every win buys a respin, and every second one lights the Wild Meter

Everything here turns on the respin. Any winning line pays and sends all five reels round again at no cost. If the new stop also pays, that win joins the round total and the reels go once more, until a respin pays nothing. Nothing is held in place in between, and every reel stops somewhere new, which is the main difference from the cascades of Quickspin's wolf games.

A column left of the reels, the Wild Meter, counts the wins of the chain. The rules screen says that every 2 consecutive wins turns a 7 symbol wild. Quickspin's game page fixes the order, blue seven at the second win, green at the fourth, red at the sixth, and a turned seven keeps substituting for everything but the Bonus Scatter until the chain stops.

Sevens High blue seven turned wild
A base-game chain at €2.50: the blue seven is already wild on reel 5, two red sevens stand stacked on reel 2 and the win box reads €13.60.

A turned seven is worth far more than a plain one. At the €2.50 stake the paytable gives €50.00 for a line of five Wilds, 20x the bet, against €5.00 for five plain sevens of one colour, €4.00 for five stars or bells and €2.50 for five pieces of fruit. Three fruit pay just €0.30, 0.12x the bet, and even that buys a respin.

The sevens come in stacks, and so does the gold WILD, which needs no meter step to appear, so one respin can cover a whole reel with one symbol.

Sevens High stacked green sevens win
Green sevens stacked on reels 2 and 3, red sevens on reel 4 and two gold WILD symbols on reel 5: this spin paid €4.90 at €2.50.

When the stacked gold WILD lands next to itself, wins appear on many lines at once.

Sevens High stacked gold wild symbols
Three gold WILD symbols fill reel 4 and two more sit on reel 5, with a BONUS scatter on reel 2; the win box shows €16.40 at €2.50.

Ten free spins in which a wild seven never turns back

The silver disco balls are the Bonus Scatters: three of them always pay 3x the bet and start 10 free spins; a further three during the round add 10. The Wild Meter works again, with two changes. A turned seven now stays wild until the free spins end, and each turn adds 2 free spins, which Quickspin's page caps at 6 extra. The counting is looser as well. The base rule says two consecutive wins, the free spins page says every 2 wins, and our server log sides with the second, because spins without a win did not reset the meter.

Sevens High free spins rules screen
The Free Spins page of the rules: 3 Bonus Scatters pay bet x3 and start 10 Free Spins, and every 2 wins turns a 7 wild and grants +2 FREE SPINS.

The base-game meter does not follow you in. On spin 148 of our log all three sevens were already wild in a long base chain when the scatters landed, yet the free spins started from the blue seven again. Scatters can land mid-chain like that. The server then plays the whole bonus and goes back to the chain, which on that spin added two more small wins.

Sevens High free spins Wild Meter
Free spins with 8 left: gold WILD symbols on reel 1, two green sevens on reel 4 and a +2 badge beside each step of the Wild Meter; €2.00 on this spin, €9.50 in total at €2.50.

With two or three sevens wild and the gold WILD in stacks, single free spins can fill most of the screen.

Sevens High free spins wild stacks
A free spin with WILD stacks across reels 2 to 4 and red sevens on reel 5; the win counter rolls up over the reels while TOTAL WIN still shows €7.80 from earlier spins.

We filmed one round whole in a later media session, run once the rig could follow a bonus nested inside a respin chain. Its trigger came on a spin with stacked gold WILDs on the last two reels.

Sevens High free spins scatter trigger
Three BONUS scatters on reels 1, 2 and 3 start the recorded round, beside gold WILD stacks on reels 4 and 5; stake €2.50.

All three sevens turned during the round, so the 10 free spins grew to 16, and the spin that left two to play paid €56.50 under a BIG WIN banner. The round closed on €125.60, 50.24x the €2.50 stake, which would have sat in the middle of the five bonuses in our logged session.

Natural free spins at €2.50 from our second media session: 10 free spins, the blue, green and red sevens turned wild for 6 more, and €125.60 in the win box at the end.

500 paid spins at €1.00, chain by chain

Behind this section sit 500 paid spins, each server answer saved. 157 of the spins paid, 31.4%, with a median win of 0.8x, and most chains were short. 108 of the 157 winning spins got nothing more from their first respin, 49 won on it and turned the blue seven, 10 lasted to the green one and only 4 turned all three. The longest chain ran to 11 wins.

No bonus produced our best round. Spin 77 turned the blue seven wild on its second win, and its fourth win, with blue sevens on reels 3 to 5, paid on 23 of the 25 lines at once, three of them five Wilds at 20x each, for 78.36x in all. The 5 free spins rounds were spin 148 (16 free spins, 66.3x), spin 195 (14 free spins, 10.6x), spin 364 (16 free spins, 39.7x), spin 482 (26 free spins, 72.7x) and spin 486 (16 free spins, 49.1x). Four of the five turned all three sevens and collected the full 6 extra spins; spin 195 turned only two, and spin 482 was the one retrigger, which is how it reached 26.

The balance drifted down to €4,976.40 on spin 76, and the next spin was the 78.36x chain. Two bonuses four spins apart near the end lifted it to the peak of €5,121.08 on spin 486, and the session closed on €5,110.20, a return of 122%. Of the €610.20 we got back, €191.80 came from free spins. Five bonuses and no win of 100x in 500 spins sits inside what the sheet's 1 in 1,862 odds allow; a sample this short proves nothing about the RTP.

Big Bad Wolf's pig trick on fruit reels, and the 2021 Ultra remake

Quickspin says the Progressive Wild "has been well proven in Big Bad Wolf", and the family resemblance is plain. In Big Bad Wolf the second, fourth and sixth wins of a round turn the three pigs wild, but the winning symbols vanish and new ones drop in; Sevens High respins the whole screen and stacks its sevens instead. The bonus rounds part ways too. The wolf collects moons to blow down houses, while here the turned sevens stay wild and buy extra spins.

Six years later Quickspin remade the game as Sevens High Ultra (August 2021), on the same grid, lines, respins and Wild Meter. Its sheet describes a harder model: volatility 5 of 5, RTP 96.06%, a top win of 6,768x and 10, 15 or 35 free spins for three, four or five scatters. Its client also offers a Classic mode whose paytable matches this game's to the cent, and its demo server, on which our spins ran in Classic, shows 96.54%, the RTP printed on this game's sheet. Neither game has a buy.

Where the 2015 game still earns its place

Sevens High is a modest machine by today's standards: volatility 3.40, a top win of 811.32x and a 100x hit about once in 1,862 spins on the sheet. What it does well is keep a spin alive. Every small fruit win is a ticket to another free turn of the reels, and the meter gives a long chain something to build towards, which suits players who like frequent, readable action more than rare giant rounds. Its bonus is short and predictable, 16 spins in most of ours. If you want the same reels with far wider swings, the Ultra remake is the place to look.

Four answers about the original Sevens High

Four short checks, made against the rules screens, the game sheet and our log of 500 spins.

Does the 2015 Sevens High have a free spins round at all?

Yes. A casinos.com review of the Ultra version says the original had no bonus round, but the game sheet, the rules screens and our server log all show one: 3 Bonus Scatters pay 3x the bet and start 10 free spins, and our 500 spins triggered 5 of them.

Do sevens turned wild in a base-game chain carry into the free spins?

No. On spin 148 of our log the blue, green and red sevens were all wild when three scatters landed mid-chain, and the free spins still began with no wild sevens, turning the blue one again on the fourth free spin. The meter in the bonus counts from zero.

How long can one free spins round get?

The rules give 10 spins, up to 6 more from the three sevens, and another 10 for each set of three scatters inside the bonus; no cap on retriggers is printed. Our longest round, on spin 482, ran to 26 spins with one retrigger and paid 72.7x.

When was Sevens High released?

In 2015. Quickspin's game page is dated February 2015, but listings disagree on the day: SlotCatalog gives 1 July 2015 and marks it approximate, casinos.com 21 April 2015 and VegasSlotsOnline February 2016. The Ultra remake followed in August 2021.
