One Wild, five Fish and a 22x base spin

The Fish symbols are blue cards with a marlin drawn on them, and each shows a cash value at the current stake. According to the help screen, a Wild collects them as long as both are on the reels at once. Position and paylines play no part, which our log bears out.

One Wild on reel 4 and five Fish on reels 1 and 3, worth 5x, 8x, 5x, 1x and 3x, gave us the best spin outside the free spins, number 185. It paid 22x. On spin 128, two Wilds and a single 5x Fish made 10x, because a second Wild collects everything again.

Most Fish go uncollected. Across our base game, 231 screens had Fish, yet only 25 of them also had a Wild; on the remaining 206 the tags paid nothing. On a payline the Fish is an ordinary medium symbol (0.8x for three, 10x for five), a long way under the gold shell's 75x and the 150x for five Wilds.

Three seaplanes, four or five: the count picks the mode

Red seaplanes are the Bonus symbols, and they never appear outside the base game. Three of them start Sunrise Spins, four Hold The Line, five Golden Marlin, and every mode opens with 12 free spins. No Bonus symbol can turn up once the round is running, so extra spins come from a meter of Wilds and from nowhere else.

Each group of 4 Wilds fills one mark on the meter, worth 1 extra spin in Sunrise Spins, 2 in Hold The Line and 3 in Golden Marlin. The two dearer modes make each Wild a Fortified Wild. It is held over to the next spin, where it collects again, counting twice on the meter as the help screen puts it.

The gold Marlin swims in Golden Marlin alone. It may land on any reel during any free spin, a Wild on the same screen catches it, and its prize rises with each appearance. Catch enough of them, Quickspin's page says, and a win could reach 5000x the bet.

Each mode once in our 500 spins, and Golden Marlin paid least

Golden Marlin came first, from five seaplanes on spin 163. A Wild that landed on free spin 8 was held over to free spin 9 and caught the gold Marlin there at 50x. Later the Marlin came back at 75x and 100x, both times with no Wild in view. With the meter stuck at 2, the round ended on 54.1x.

Spin 262 brought the three-seaplane mode, Sunrise Spins, and a better result of 59.9x. Six Wilds reached the meter for one extra spin, and on free spin 6 a lone Wild picked up three Fish worth 23x. The last round was the best. Hold The Line arrived on spin 288, where two Wilds on free spin 7 took a 15x Fish twice and, held for the next spin, an 8x Fish twice more. Its meter reached 7, for 14 spins and 67.5x.

From the three rounds came €181.50 of the €401.50. Fish collections in the base game added €144.00 and other line wins €76.00. The balance peaked after spin 288 at €5,048.80 and hit bottom, €4,900.40, on spin 496. Winning spins made up 26.8%, a little above the sheet's 24.51%, and we never saw more than 16 losing spins in a row.

Forty bets buy three seaplanes or more

Press the seaplane badge and three cards come up. Each carries a hint that agrees with the rules, from extra spins on Sunrise Spins to held Wilds on Hold The Line and a growing Marlin on Golden Marlin.

Only the 250x card is sure of its mode. In the help screen the 40x card promises "at least 3" Bonus symbols and the 95x card "at least 4", so both can land a dearer mode, though Quickspin's page describes the 95x level as exactly 4. The buys have no RTP of their own on the page or the sheet, and neither says if Extra Bet can be switched on with one.

The buy gave us three seaplanes, the minimum, and with them Sunrise Spins. Its first payout came from a Wild at the top of reel 5.

Later the fourth Wild landed beside a 15.00 Fish, added a spin and won €16.50. It was not enough. After 13 spins the round had reached €27.70, €12.30 short of the price, and a natural Golden Marlin on media spin 20 did worse still, 10.9x over 15 spins, with the gold Marlin landing on screens that had no Wild.

The four natural rounds we saw paid between 10.9x and 67.5x, and three of them reached the 40x price. With a single purchase beside them, that is far too little to rank the buys.

Three later games in the series and what each changed

Three more Epic Fish games followed this one, and each kept the 5x3 grid, 10 lines, an Extra Bet that doubles the stake and Wilds that collect Fish.

The first to change the rest was Epic Fish: Net of Fortune in February 2025. It gave the Wild Net Respins that hold each new Fish, shrank the rounds to 7, 8 and 9 spins with volatility down to 3, and priced the buys at 45x, 100x and 250x.

In Epic Fish: Marlin Madness, out in September 2025, the gold fish became a Black Marlin multiplier worth 30x to 5,000x. Its rounds run 10, 12 and 14 spins, and the simulated top climbed to 7,673.8x, against 5,190.7x here.

The last, Epic Fish: Winter Catch from November 2025, is a reskin that changed only the scenery and the names. Its four sheet cards, its buys and its rules are this game's, set on a Norwegian fjord. Even so, our logs of the two ended far apart, 80.3% here against 140.1% there, a gap that identical maths leaves to luck.

Who should cast a line in the Caribbean

At 4.5 of 5, this game and its winter twin are the most volatile Epic Fish models; Net of Fortune and Marlin Madness sit at 3. According to the sheet, the free spins account for 44.19% of the return. Expect long runs of Fish that no Wild collects, with a 100x win roughly once every 993 spins.

Pick the Caribbean if you prefer the original's look, since the winter version plays identically. A casino copy may sit on 94.19%, 92.07% or 87.15% instead of the demo's 96.07%, and Quickspin notes that the buy is withheld in some markets.
