Primal Spirits Demo: Four Totems and Four Colour Counters
Primal Spirits is a Quickspin slot of October 2022 on 5x3 reels with 25 lines. Winning symbols tumble away, the top Totem of a carved column then turns gems of its colour into Spirit Animals, and each upgraded symbol adds 1 to one of four colour multipliers. Quickspin's simulation tops out at 8,623x the bet.
Are Primal Spirits and Totem Thunder one Quickspin slot or two?
One slot under two labels. Quickspin released it in October 2022 as Primal Spirits, the name on its game page, its game sheet and the demo client. Totem Thunder was the working title. It survives in the game ID totemthunder, used by the sheet and the demo server, and Quickspin's address /slots/totem-thunder/ redirects to the Primal Spirits page. SlotCatalog reports the late rename too. The Totem Thunder that Inspired Entertainment launched in July 2022 on a 5x4 grid is another studio's game.

Before the first spin, the pillar right of the reels shows four counters, one per colour, each at x1. The stake opens at €1.00, as in our log, so a WIN figure on our frames is already the multiple of the bet; the BONUS €150 drum under the logo opens the buy. This demo runs the 96.02% model, while a casino may install the 94.19% or 87.15% version.

Only the top Totem on the pole acts
Four Totems are stacked on the carved pole left of the reels, each red, purple, green, blue or gold. After a win and its tumble, a coloured Totem on top turns every gem of its colour into the matching Spirit Animal, while a gold one converts gems of all colours at once. The rules call these Totem Trance and Golden Totem Trance.

At €1.00 five of any gem pay only €1.20. Five blue owls pay €2.00, five green Spirit Animals €2.40, five purple ones €4.00 and five red ones €5.00, level with five Wilds.
In our raw log the pole moved up one Totem on each of the 159 base-game tumbles, with the gold one on top for 23. Something was upgraded on 137 tumbles and in 78 of the 83 winning base spins.
Each colour keeps its own count
An upgraded symbol adds 1 to its colour's counter if a win or a further free spin follows, and later wins on that colour are multiplied by the current figure. Red Spirit Animals and red gems share one counter, so a purple chain does nothing for green.

The rules do not say what happens to the counters when a base spin ends. In the demo they go back: all 500 of our paid spins began with the four colours at x1.

In 421 of our 500 spins the pillar never moved, every counter still at x1 when the spin ended. The highest base-game figure was x10, on spin 91.
Thunder Free Spins hold every count until the last spin
Drums with BONUS across them are the scatters. Three start what the client calls Thunder Free Spins, 10 of them, with 5 more for each extra drum. The drums pay nothing, even in pairs: 18 of our spins opened with two.

Whatever the triggering spin collected moves into the free spins, and the counters then never reset, so each upgrade multiplies every later win of its colour until the round ends.
In that round, from our 80-spin media session, the first eight spins paid €13.80 between them, and the last two added €124.80 on counters built over the round.
90% of the base-game pay arrived at x2 or better
Over 500 spins at €1.00 we got back 105.8%, and 16.8% of spins paid something. Base spins paid €482.60, of which €434.20 came on wins at a colour multiplier above x1, in 30 spins. Opening screens, before any tumble, paid €40.00.
- 500paid demo spins at €1.00
- 16.8%of them paid something
- 114.2xbest single spin
- 1free spins bonus triggered
Our best, spin 91, followed the session low of €4,957.60. It opened on a €0.20 line of red gems, and eleven tumbles followed; on the first, the purple Totem upgraded two purple gems. The biggest paid €47.60 on four green lines at x7, right after the green Totem had converted four gems. Purple and green ended at x10 and the spin paid 114.2x. At x1 the same lines would have paid €18.40.
Spin 101 brought the only natural bonus: 10 free spins for 46.6x, 8.8% of our return. Three of them paid nothing, and the tenth, starting with red at x9 and green at x7, paid €32.40 alone.
Against the sheet our log ran warm. It puts the odds of 15x or more at 1 in 73 spins, about 7 in 500, and we saw 11.
Skipping the drums costs 150x
Paid from the base game, the purchase starts the free spins with three or more Bonus Scatters. Quickspin publishes no RTP for it, and it may not be offered in every market. Before charging, the client asks you to confirm the total cost, €150.00 at €1.00.

|---|---|---|
| Free Spins Bonus, 3+ Bonus ScattersStarts the Free Spins Bonus with 3 or more Bonus Scatter symbols | 150x | €150.00 |

Our purchase took the balance to €4,850.00, landed three drums and returned €48.60 over 10 spins, 32.4% of the price.

Four counters against Temple of Paw's one
The closest game here is Temple of Paw, another 5x3 tumbler rated 5 of 5 whose base spins all began at x1 in our log. It keeps one multiplier, +1 per base-game tumble whatever won. Here the climb splits four ways: on spin 91 purple and green reached x10 while red and blue stopped at x5. Quickspin's sheet for this game gives the free spins 31.95% of the RTP against 48.14% for the cat, and the buy costs 150x against 100x.
Single wins in Primal Spirits pay gem money. Our return came from chains, spins in which a Totem found gems and a counter moved. For a counter fed by Wilds instead, see Wild Cauldron.
Totem and colour questions, checked against the server
The paytable and our raw log answer most of these.
Do the colour multipliers go back to x1 after a base-game spin?
Yes, in our log: every one of our 500 paid spins started with all four colours at x1. The rules only say that the counters do not reset between free spins and that the triggering spin's counts carry into the bonus.
What does the wooden W symbol do?
It is the Wild. By the paytable it substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus Scatters, and five on a line pay €5.00 at a €1.00 stake, as much as five red Spirit Animals. The rules do not say which colour counter applies to a line it completes.
How many free spins can one trigger give?
Three Bonus Scatters give 10, and each extra drum in the same round adds 5, so four give 15 and five 20. A retrigger inside the bonus follows the same scale. Our natural trigger and both media rounds all landed three drums.
How often does the gold Totem come up?
Quickspin gives no frequency. We counted it on top for 23 of the 159 base-game tumbles in our log. Because it converts gems of every colour, one gold turn can raise all four counters at once.
Can a bought round start with more than three drums?
Quickspin's wording allows it, since the buy promises three or more Bonus Scatters, and four or five would mean 15 or 20 spins. No frequency is published. The round we bought had exactly three.
