Princess Wilds on reels 2 to 4 and the Sakura Fortune Respin

The rules call the Princess Wild a 4x1 symbol: one princess as tall as the reel, present only on reels 2, 3 and 4 and substituting for everything. She often lands only partly in view. The other symbols pay left to right on 40 lines; at the client's €2.00 default the white-bearded emperor pays €20.00 for five on a line, 10x the bet, while five of any of the four coins pay €2.00 or €2.50.

The respin needs more than that. Two full stacks at once start it with 2 respins, every additional wild adds respins, and the feature ends when no new wild lands; free spins can still trigger during it. Quickspin's game page and sheet also describe a Mystery Nudge that can push two or more Princess Wilds into a full stack, though the in-game rules screens do not mention it.

In our 500 logged spins a single full stack appeared on 20 spins. Two at once happened once, on spin 436, with stacks on reels 3 and 4, and those respins paid 3.4x. Our first media session, a separate run of 94 spins, was luckier: respin rounds on its spins 47 and 80 paid €136.00 and €141.60 at €2.00, or 68x and 70.8x the bet.

Free spins: Princess Wilds that expand and stay

Bonus Scatters appear only in the base game but on any reel, and free spins need three or more of them on consecutive reels starting from reel 1. The order matters: on spin 154 of our log three scatters landed on reels 1, 2 and 5, and nothing triggered. As a wild that also counts as a scatter, the Princess can fill the gap on reel 2, which is how the round filmed in our second media session began.

The award screen that followed gave 7 free spins, and the free spins counter in our first media session also opened at 7. The rules do not print a number, and both triggers in our log also came from three scatters.

During the round any Princess Wild that lands expands over its whole reel, stays there until the free spins end and adds one free spin. Our two logged rounds show both extremes: spin 90 ran 7 free spins without a single Princess Wild and paid nothing, while spin 334 picked up two wild reels, ran 9 spins and paid 53x. In the filmed round wilds settled on reels 3 and 2 early and both stayed to the last spin.

With two wild reels in place the Total Win box climbs from €30.00 to €302.00 before the last of the 9 spins, and the closing screen reads €326.00, 163x the €2.00 bet.

Back in the base game the balance rose from €4,998.80 to €5,324.80. Our first media session also reached free spins, but the demo stopped responding there, so we filmed this second one.

The line barely lifts. The balance peaked at €5,004.20 on spin 13 and finished at its lowest point, €4,727.15, on spin 500. 418 spins paid nothing, the median win was 1.5x, and only 2 spins reached 10x: 12x in the base game on spin 8 and the 53x free spins.

The log does not say why the rate was so low, and we will not guess. It does show where the money did not come from. The game sheet puts 48.87% of the RTP in the respins and free spins; in our session those features paid €56.40, 11.3% of the stakes, from one respin round and two free spins rounds. Base-game lines returned €170.75, 34.2%, against 47.71% on the sheet. Five hundred spins of a game rated 4.83 are a small sample.

The 2017 original next to Sakura Fortune 2

Sakura Fortune 2 arrived in April 2022 with 576 ways instead of 40 lines. Verdict: a slot that waits for two stacks at once

Sakura Fortune keeps its weight in two moments: two full Princess stacks landing together, or three scatters lined up from reel 1. In between, the base game pays small amounts on few spins, as our 16.4% rate shows.
